How to set the email client pine

* The really fun (and relatively old) Unix/Linux email client

installing pine on F7 (fedora 7)

I wanted to use pine to read my email on Fedora 7. It didn't really work great.
Mainly because pine is no longer included in the fedora default packages.
So i tried yum'ing it. that didnt' work so hot either. Therefore I found this
great little thing for Fedora that will let you install packages not found on
the regular fedora yum repos. cool things including pine and VLC :)

So, here are the instructions:

$> rpm -Uhv ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/i386/os/Fedora/fedora-release-*.noarch.rpm
(get livna rpm for f7 from here: http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/ )
$> rpm -ivh livna-release-7.rpm
$> yum install pine

Easy like a piece of cake! You.re done, you got pine. Send the email that they
request at start up so that they know you use pine and so they will continue to
develop for it (it's anonymous, don't worry).

How to log onto a Windows machine through a linux one

* Tunneling Windows Remote Desktop (mstsc) through putty. Specifically for use at Baylor tunneling from off campus through the Linux servers to a computer on campus.

To get to your windows machine on campus from off campus!

What you need:
putty (get it by searching google for putty)
your IP address on campus. (look on the resnet logon screen)

Startup putty-
-on the first screen, type in fire.ecs.bayor.edu in the Host name position
make sure the radio button is on SSH and the port number is 22
-go to Connection-SSH on the right frame, set 'Enable compression' to checked, set 'Preferred SSH protocol' to 2
-go to Connection-SSH-Tunnels on the right frame, type into the source port section:
127.0.0.2:3389
type in the destination:
<your Baylor IP (129.62.x.x)>:3389
Make sure the 'local' and 'auto' radio buttons are pressed.
CLICK ON ADD!!! if you don't it will loose your settings...(personal experience)
-go back to the 'Session' tree on the right frame, in the text box labled 'Saved Sessions' type in 'fireRDP' and then click SAVE (please... don't forget..)
next click open
-log on to fire w/ your ecs usrname/passwd
-open up Windows Remote Desktop (press WindowsKey+r, type 'mstsc', press return)
type in 127.0.0.2 hit enter and log on to your on camups machine! :):):)
